The Palazzo Biscari, also known as the Castle of Mirabella Imbaccari, is a monumental complex steeped in history, marked by a profound transformation from the noble residence of the Princes Paternò Biscari to the long-standing stewardship of the Dorothean Sisters, and finally to its 2014 donation to the Fondazione Messina.

This passage of ownership gave rise to the Parco dei Saperi, an international hub dedicated to educational infrastructure, envisioned as a common good and a driver of human development for the region. Within this space, where tradition—such as the ancient art of bobbin lace making—meets technological and social innovation, stands the artistic and educational journey titled “Quello Che Resta”.

Created by artist Gianfranco Anastasio, the permanent installation occupies the noble floor and unfolds as a unique itinerary into the philosophy of knowledge. Through immersive rooms, historical galleries, and contemporary works, the exhibition explores the profound cultural shift between modernity and post-modernity, inviting visitors to transcend the boundaries between scientific, artistic, and philosophical disciplines.

The path is marked by powerful visual and conceptual experiences, including a threshold that expresses the end of the utopia of absolute objectivity through an aesthetic shock. Among the most iconic elements are ten carbonized wooden poles with golden rings and an entire golden wall bearing the formula of Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle, where quantum physics meets the sacred symbolism of golden light.

This dialogue suggests a negative ontology of nature, opening a space in which art becomes revelation of pure beauty and the ineffable.

“Quello Che Resta” is not merely an exhibition, but an existential space-time reflecting the turmoil of the twentieth century—from the fragmentation of scientific thought to global crises and the awareness of human limits.

Every detail, from the engraved brass floor tiles to works such as the Wing of Icarus, creates a sensitive and unpredictable relationship with the visitor, culminating in a luminous experience that transcends human fragility and restores dignity and splendour to all forms of life on Earth.
